"In Still Life #207, two white tulips their crowns grown apart inhabit a blue-grey-green vase against a royal blue backdrop and red underground. This five-plex of chromatics creates a tight well chosen suit, shirt and tie that if you will is succesful in marrying together colors and forms in the forefront of a narrow color range or as a sky starred by a rare avis - here in this case with this vase in this composition by a sparkling chameleon hue".

"In this recent suite of paintings Azank has in places actually loosened his brushstroke a bit.
Such a canvas is Still Life #173 wherein a long slaloming swooning Tulip preens in an innate serpentine rhythm and otherwise winds out in the form of a single gesture from the clear glass vase in which the flower is placed. The vessel in turn is grounded upon and placed against a burgundy and silver gray pewter backdrop. This work in its soft passages takes on a semblance in its seamless transition to the effortless partitions and blends within Sir Anthony Van Dyck's most mysterious skies."

"In Still Life #166 a serpentine rise painted in a single gesture ends in the blossom of a yellow Tulip, The two part stem of the flower leans forward in the vase as it were coital with the stalk.".
